Sage Rosenfels
July 2004

Sage Rosenfels is a reserve quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. He started his NFL career with the Washington Redskins in 2001 as a 4th round draft choice and was traded to the Dolphins in 2002 for a 7th round draft choice. Sage played college football for Iowa State.

Sage was generous enough to participate in a Phinatics Phorum Q&A session in July of 2004.
Phinatics.com gives Sage a special "THANK YOU" for his participation.

The Phinatic: Sage, please tell us how the Ultimate Sage Football Experience is going. I would also like to hear more about your sister and how the Experience events will help her. Thanks!

Sage Rosenfels : I'm trying to raise money for my sister's charity the Everett Connor Center for Independent Living in Iowa City of which she is a board member. She was brain injured in a car accident about 11 years ago and the Center helps those with disabilities deal with day to day challenges. I look forward to hearing from corporations, Dolfans and Phinatics.com readers about how I can make personal appearances via The Ultimate Sage Rosenfels Football Experience to help raise money for the Everett Connor Center. Please email requests to WeissPR@aol.com

Tullmaster: Sage, who is your favorite receiving target on the team and why?

Sage Rosenfels : I've had the most work with Chambers just because I've been here with him for almost 3 seasons now. I think David Boston has unlimited potential but I've only been with him for 4 months.

dolphinman9954 : What do you think about not playing in the last two games last year when nothing was at stake?

Sage Rosenfels : I would have loved to play the last game since we were out of the playoffs, but then we as an organization aren't giving fans what they've paid to see. They pay to see our best players play all 8 regular season games. If Jay were to not play, then what about J.T., Zach, Tim Bowens, Chambers?

Tony T : Are there any big differences between the Dolphins and the Redskins teams in the sense of the expectations for a winning season? Also, how do you go about preparing yourself for a game knowing that you are the third QB and that you aren't really going to get your chance to prove yourself in a game situation unless injuries happen to others?

Sage Rosenfels : I've been fortunate to have been on two teams with great tradition. The Redskins will do anything to have a winner. The Dolphins have been winning and in the playoffs for 20 years.

CF Dolfan : A lot of people feel you haven't been given a fair shot at QB and would like for you to get that chance. In another post on this board, Jim Jenson even stated he looks forward to seeing you develop as he thinks you will do well in this league. If you haven't already answered this, do you feel you have been given a fair shot? If not, does it encourage you to see and hear people support you in getting that shot? Thanks for taking time to answer our questions.

Sage Rosenfels : I am encouraged to hear people say they'd love to see me play. I think I've always played well when I've had the chance. Playing the second half of preseason games is sort of a double edged sword. If you do well, everyone says you were going against the backups. If you play poorly, people think you stink.

The Phinatic : Based on what you've seen of the new offensive line, what do you think about the situation?

Sage Rosenfels : Patience, Patience. Good players that need to mold together as one. They are the most important part of a team. Not just the offense, but the team.

The Phinatic : Do you think you'll ever play in the NFL Europe League and would you want to if asked?

Sage Rosenfels : I doubt it. I'm 26, married, have a son with one on the way. It would be difficult for me to leave them for 4 months. My agent represents Kurt Warner and Jake Delhomme, both who were in Europe, and he still doesn't recommend it unless they basically make you go.
