Every Phinatic has an opinion on free agency, with which of our own we should keep, and which potential FA's from other teams we should go after. Opinions differ greatly. This is a thread to look at the "Give & Take" options on what you would choose to do in spending the team's cap money.

Here's what I understand our own FA's are looking for.

Long- $10M+

Hartline- $6M

Bush- $5-6M

Fasano- $3-4M

Smith- $7M

Starks- $5-6M

Clemons- $3M

Other team's FA's

Wallace, Jennings, and Bowe- All in the $10-11M range

Volmer- $5-6M

Levitre- $5M

Now the fun part.

Wold you give the combined money of Hartline and Bush to take one of the WR's?

Either way I think it would/should improve our team tremendously, even if they decide on other players, as long as they are not a bunch of nobody's like last season.

It's $46M to start. Then there is around $7M which has to be spent on the draft. Then, there are the other 7-8 FA's, including Moore/backup QB, which should run another $7-8M, and bring us to about $31M to play with.

Forgot to mention that when you sign a player to a 4-5 year deal, the firs year is normally discounted by 20-30% with the pro-rated signing bonus, etc.

Long - resign for $7 mil or let him walk
Hartline - offer $4 mil
Bush - offer $5 mil
Smith - Offer $5 mil (5 yr deal with $15 Mil guaranteed - lower annual but entice with yrs)
Starks - Offer $5 mil
Let everyone else walk....
Cut Marshall and a few others back ups to save another $5 mil - leaving $25 mil

Wallace - $9 mil (5 years - $45 mil with $25 guaranteed)
Cook/Bennett/Keller - $3 mil
Grimes - $7 mil

Rookies - $6 Mil

Actually Irelands job is not easy.. Some tough choices - especially Long, Starks, Bush - all of whom we could get cheaper options either on the roster or in the draft.. That being said, all would be solid contributors and no guarantee that we will replace them with equal production.
