TOPIC: Dee Milliner

Dee Milliner 1 year, 11 months ago #1

He's projected to be a top ten pick, and I was thinking we should consider trading up for him. After watching him last night, I don't see anything special. He did pretty good vs ND but, that is light years from Brady.

I saw him turning his back to the ball, and not great coverage 1 on 1.

Opinions?

Banks will be just as good so we may be more set at 12 than we think. Who knows Banks might go first!

Hi Sobe,

Yes, I would agree although I can honestly say that I drifted off after halftime so did not focus too much on him, particularly in the second half. He looked human (and short) getting beat in the first 2 ND series for those jump balls down the sideline with Eifert, even if one was OB, and the other was an incompletion/robbery of ND. Then again, it was pure physics of 6'6" vs. 6'1"...anyhow, the only guys who stood out for me are the ND safety Motta, and Alabama LB CJ Mosley who played the way I expected a certain heralded ND LB to play....

I have to be honest, the game was so-o-o bad i pretty much stopped watching after the first few possessions..Turned it off completely at halftime!

Milliner looked pretty solid if unspectacular, but of course you have to consider his whole body of work and not just the one game (Good thing, otherwise Te'o would probably go undrafted after last nights game!) That being said, there isn't a player in this years draft that i would trade up for..unless it's only a couple of spots & didn't cost us much...I would however consider trading back up into the bottom of the first and getting another playmaker if one that we really crave is still on the board late...

I would also consider that ND had 40 days, and 40 nights, to prepare, and chose to go after Milliner. That does tell me something.

I said a few weeks ago I felt Rhodes would be the best of the top three corners in the draft. With that being said I really like Desmond Trufant and would love to see us get him with our first pick in round two.

As far as the #12 pick goes there is no one that really make me jump for joy. My first want is to trade back. I think Miami can get similar talent at say 25 as they can at 12. I also wouldn't be shocked to see no QB come off the board before Miami picks, so they may be able to trade back at that point.

So, you don't believe (like every other mock i've seen) that the Chiefs will take a QB @ #1??

Not yet. I'm not sold on Smith. Reid could pick up a stop gag for now and look for a QB in a later round.

True..especially now with Smith opting to skip the Senior Bowl after sucking in WV's bowl loss to Syracuse..

Watch out for Ryan Nassib the Syracuse QB. He is going to be rising up every teams draft board. I have a feeling he will probably go to Buffalo in the 2nd round especially since they just hired the Syracuse HC to be their new HC.

yeah, i was thinking the same thing (Also, Marrone is bringing his OC with him) You think Buffalo will take him in the 1st rd. if they think he'll be gone by the time they pick in the 2nd? it's a very similar situation to the one we were faced with this past draft with Tannehill...

The problem with Buffalo taking Nassib is the contract for Fitzgerald. They were crazy to sign him to that contract.

Here are the detail of his contract if Buffalo released him they would be on the hook for about $6m through 2015. Ya never know though...

Base Salary S. Bonus Misc. Bonus Cap Hit
2012 2,800,000 2,000,000 1,200,000 6,000,000
2013 4,250,000 2,000,000 4,200,000 10,450,000
2014 4,350,000 2,000,000 4,200,000 10,550,000
2015 7,200,000 2,000,000 1,200,000 10,400,000
2016 8,750,000 - 1,200,000 9,950,000
2017 9,450,000 - 200,000 9,650,000

yeah that is crazy..Not sure what they'll end up doing, but everything i've read points to them taking a QB high in the draft..Maybe Fitz will become the highest paid clipboard carrier in the league.

How odd would it be if Buff took Tyler Wilson from Ark at QB. Kid is tough and has a cannon for an arm. That would be 2 Wilson's at QB in the NFL and 2 Ark QBs in the AFCE...

Wouldn't surprise me to see the Chiefs take Wilson #1 overall. Not sold on Smith or Barkley...

I am not done rating everyone yet, but right now I have Wilson as my top QB and may even have Glennon #2.
