Dolphins sign ex jet DE Marques Douglas

With the restrictions lifting for last year's "Final Eight" playoff teams to sign unrestricted free agents, one possibility was that the Jets would bring back defensive end Marques Douglas.

The veteran had spent much of his career playing for Rex Ryan, including the 2009 season with the Jets. But Douglas is now headed to AFC East rival Miami, on a two-year, $2.5 million contract, according to a person with direct knowledge of the terms of the deal.

That person requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak for Douglas or the Dolphins. The person also said the Jets were among the teams in the conversation for Douglas, before he ultimately chose the Dolphins.

Douglas will be a good fit in Miami, where there is a void at the position. Randy Starks moved to nose tackle from end earlier this year, and Phillip Merling was just lost for the year to an Achilles tendon injury.

Nice to see we traded DE's with them! But hey it's a good signing to give us some depth along the d-line with the injuries & retirement lately.
