The Miami Dolphins may have not looked all that good against the Los Angeles Chargers the week before, but they found a way to come away with the win. What was supposed to be an easier win against a lesser opponent, however, the Dolphins failed to get the job done against the division rival New York Jets.
The Jets were projected to finish as one of the worst teams in the league this season, and they still could. On Sunday, however, they were dominant over the Dolphins in every stage of the game. Miami missed a clear opportunity to start the season 2-0, and hold a slight lead in the AFC East. The loss is a concerning one.
It was understandable for Miami to look out of sync against the Chargers being that it was their first game of the season, and all other teams had already played. The fact that they were able to come away with the victory was all that mattered as it could play a factor into the playoff picture later on this season.
The loss to the Jets, however, erased all that momentum and gave a break to the rest of the AFC in the process. Because it was a division loss makes matters even worse. Miami must find a way to regroup quickly as they now travel to London to take on New Orleans. Although the game will be played across the pond, this will be Miami’s first official ‘home’ game of the season.
