Amongst the list of Miami Dolphin potential free agents includes 3 year corner back Sean Smith. Smith who has been a standout, physical corner back with the Dolphins has been tampering with another NFL team. Vontae Davis, former Dolphins corner back who spent his years with Sean Smith tweeted Wednesday, “I seen my dude Sean Smith last night he said he talking to KC him & B Flowers will makes a good Duo”.
Vontae Davis had been traded to the Indianapolis Colts early in the 2012 season, which debuted on HBO Hard Knocks, and has kept in contact with Smith since then. However since free agency does not begin until March 12th, negotiations between potential free agents and other NFL teams its prohibited until March 9th (in which teams are granted a 3 day negotiation period before signings). Vontae later revoked his comments and tweeted “My Twitter was Hack I did not see Sean Smith last night!!”
As far as Sean Smith’s comments on the matter, he later sent out a tweet reaffirming the false accusations saying, “Ok this is getting out of hand. I’ve never talked to any other team besides the Miami Dolphins.Yes I talked to Vontae and I told him Al Harris (our former coach) got the job up in KC and that I talked to him a few days ago to tell him congrats. That’s it! Now why he interpreted that as ‘talking to KC’ idk but there is NOTHING going on? This is ridiculous.”
The Miami Dolphins and an NFL League Spokesman have no comments on the situation. On the Miami Dolphins depth chart at corner back, behind Smith lies less experienced Bryan McCann, R.J. Stanford, and Dimitri Patterson. As far as the Dolphins interest in Sean Smith, the need for a experienced corner is vital. However a few other teams have reportedly shown interest in the Dolphin’s corner, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and possibly the Kansas City Chiefs.
